Reduction of Graphene Oxide by new Chemical and Green Methods

This research deals with the preparation of graphene oxide from graphite through graphite oxide based on Hummer method and then reduced it by following three methods: local olive leaf extract method, pure oleic acid method, in addition to the method of reduction using sodium hypochlorite and urea in an alkaline medium. The graphene oxide reduced products were analyzed and compared with infrared (FTIR) in the range of 400-4000cm-1 and it was found that there are functional groups of oxygen, then visible spectral range UV-VIS within the range of (200-800) nm. Also, the structures and particle size of these products (sheet) were traced based on the Field emission scanning electron microscopy FESEM and scanner Electronic energy- dispersion by X-ray SEM- EDX where the dimensions of reduced graphene oxide for local olive leaf extract were within (20 µm - 500 nm), while reduced it by pure oleic acid (200 µm- 500 nm), and then it was exposed to a relatively high temperature 440 ℃ and then milled, and the radii were (2 µm- 200 nm) and in measuring the energy dispersion by X-ray EDX, the result showed that the weight percentage of carbon is 72.04% and oxygen is 24.32%, while the reduction is by chemical method in the presence of sodium hypochlorite and urea in an alkaline medium within (50 µm -500 nm) and after milled there was a decrease in the radii of these sheets were It has a range of (2µ-200nm) and in measuring the Energy-dispersive X-ray EDX, the result showed and the weight percentage was carbon 53.22% and oxygen 29.67%
