Identifying the effects of the Covid 19 pandemic on Iranian chess

چکیده
Introduction: After the epidemic of Covid 19 in all regions, many medical, social, cultural, economic and political trends have been formed in response to this disease (Evans et al., 2020). And various protective measures by officials, including social distancing, job closures (Corsini et al., 2020), Schools and universities were closed, travel was banned, cultural-sports events and other social events were banned (Hamani et al., 2020,). The sports industry was no exception; So that Covid 19 and the prevailing conditions in the world, caused changes in the sports industry. Examples include the postponement of the Tokyo Olympics and Paralympics (Parnell et al., 2020; Galgo et al., 2020). He mentioned the abolition or postponement of prestigious and important sports leagues such as the English Football League (Clarkson et al., 2020) and the closure of social-sporting events and sports venues (Hamani et al., 2020). The aim of this study was to identify the pandemic effects of Covid 19 on Iranian chess.
Methods: This research was conducted in a qualitative manner and with an exploratory approach that was applied in terms of purpose. The statistical population consisted of all chess experts (players, coaches, managers and experts). Purposeful sampling was done with 12 interviews, theoretical saturation. In order to collect information, semi-structured interviews were used, which were conducted through direct communication and telephone calls. To assess the validity and reliability of acceptability, transferability and verifiability, open reliability of the test was used. The interviews were analyzed using content analysis.
Results: From the data analysis, 51 sub-categories were obtained, which were divided into 11 main categories. The categories were summarized in 7 concepts of economic, eventual, tourism, manpower, equipment, technology and health consequences.
Conclusion: The results of this research can contribute to the scientific richness of this field and serve as a basis for future studies. In practice, all elements of the Chess Federation and relevant managers can deal with the current effects and challenges and take measures to address them. Because the effects of Covid 19 in some ways had positive effects and in some areas had negative ones on the country's chess sport.
